Susannah Sail is a singer, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist, born in Northamptonshire, trained in London, but who has found her final home in Cornwall. The music is a mix of soul, jazz and alternative-indie, but that hardly does justice to it’s myriad influences.

About The Event
Naturally, each of the band members personal inspiration draws from a broad range of the musical spectrum, resulting in a sound unique, but familiar, rooted in the classics but reaching for the future; Susannah’s songwriting is inspired by her past relationships, musings on the complexity of human emotion, and a positive vision of the future. Initially engaging with the “simpler” lyricism of Nick Drake, Eva Cassidy and Bill Whithers instilled in her a certain efficiency of words; prose easily digested but which unfurls in your mind and rewards multiple listens with new found meaning and emotion. Her vocal style and melodies were influenced by a similar cast of 60’s and 70’s classics, while also absorbing a lot of the older jazz vocalists - Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Sarah Vaughan et al. - and the dizzying ubiquity leading her to a highly melody focussed approach, and a penchant for interesting interval…
